It’s just a group of boys having fun

You must have been out with friends often to a beach, climbing mountains, even in the jungle, or simply in a hotel with a swimming pool, but be careful when the fun becomes a disaster. These guys are just like us enjoying as we do. We pushed our friends into the water or put a cake on their faces, four friends holding a friend and throwing him into the pool, but everything was not funny.

TW: De*th

As we can see in the video the boy was with his friends who were trying to have fun by throwing him in the water but one friend didn’t leave his hand and the boy’s chest hit the swimming pool wall. This caused a life-threatening injury in his heart. He later di*d in the hospital due to a heart attack.

According to my research, the boy suffered from Commotio Cordis which is a fatal blow to the chest. For instance, If an object – usually a ball – hits a youth directly over the heart during a certain brief period in the cardiac cycle, it can trigger commotio cordis, a rare and often fatal disruption of the heartbeat.

Morals From this incident

The lesson here is that it’s important to have fun with friends to be healthy but it should be done within the limits to prevent these types of cases. Immediate CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) are crucial in improving survival chances if a person suffers from comotio cordis.

Commotio Cordis

Cause: Commotio cordis is an unusual condition that occurs when a dull object or surface impacts the chest causing the heart to go into an arrhythmia and stop beating, leading to a sudden cardiac death:

In Latin: Commotio Cordis translates to “agitation of the heart”.

Who is at risk: It is most commonly faced by young males, usually between the ages of 8 and 18, playing sports involving projectiles like a baseball or hockey puck.

Treatment: Immediate CPR and defibrillation are critical for survival.

Survival rate: The survival rate for commotio cordis has improved over time, from 34% in 1993–2006 to 58% in 2006–2012. This is likely due to earlier CPR, access to defibrillation, and greater public awareness.
